2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI: The Volkswagen Golf GTI remains unchanged for 2024, though it's also the final year for the option of a manual transmission. The Golf GTI is a compact car that seats 5 and is only available as a 4-door hatchback. Competitors include the Honda Civic Si, Hyundai Veloster, Mazda 3 hatchback and Subaru WRX. A high-performance Golf R variant is available.

Five trims are offered: S, 380 SE, Autobahn, and R. Two engines are available: A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 241 horsepower and a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 315 horsepower in the Golf R. Both pair to either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Golf R is the high-performance, range-topping model of the Golf GTI lineup, and is hailed as one of the best-performing, most capable hot hatchbacks in production. It can do 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, according to VW. Pricing ranges from $33,000 to $55,000.
