2018 Subaru Forester: The 50th Anniversary Edition of the 2018 Subaru Forester debuted at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. The Forester is a tall, wagon-like crossover SUV that competes with the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V. For 2018, the five-seat Forester adds several safety assists such as automatic high-beam headlights and reverse auto braking as standard features.
The Forester has two engines: A 2.5-liter horizontally-opposed four-cylinder that makes 170 horsepower and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower. The 2.5-liter is available with a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT). The 2.0-liter engine pairs with a CVT. The Forester is all-wheel drive. The 2.5-liter engine has EPA-estimated fuel-economy numbers of 26 mpg city/32 mpg highway (22/28 with manual transmission) and the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is rated at 23/27.
Trim levels on the Forester are as follows: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 2.5i Touring, 2.0XT Premium, and 2.0T Touring. Available features include EyeSight driver-assist technology, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, air conditioning, satellite radio, Bluetooth, USB ports, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, fog lamps, navigation, and leather seats.
Available safety features include automatic braking, frontal collision alert, lane departure alert, blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, reverse automatic braking, stability control, anti-lock brakes, and dual-front, front-side, front-knee and side-curtain airbags.
