Fun for the whole family!

Kids aren’t the only one with wild imaginations. At the Chicago Auto Show, adults and children alike sit in their favorite car and pretend to see the road stretch before them while clutching the wheel. One can see the determination in their face as they place their foot to the pedal. Adults sit in real cars and trucks while children wait their turn for race simulators located throughout the show floor. Many exhibits have adopted race simulators this year, which creates a fun spin on the traditional auto show.
One show-goer father commented on the enjoyment of bringing his son to the show—to see the cars, of course, but also for the interactive driving displays. He said the interactivity provides a fun opportunity for kids to “drive” after viewing countless vehicles at the show. They’re already in the auto show spirit and the racing simulators facilitate these fantasies to become obtainable. As I asked the father some questions about his thoughts on the simulators, I could barely hear his response because his six-year-old son jumped up and down and told me, “I won! I won! I came in first place!”
Activities for younger tots are also present at the show—just visit the “Kid Zone” located in the South Hall of McCormick Place. DriveChicago.com’s “Kid Zone” features Legoland, an animatronic dinosaur from Brookfield Zoo, racing games and many other activities including coloring and a life-size game of tic-tac-toe.
This kid-friendly environment allows parents to keep their children occupied at the show as well as give them a break from car-viewing. One show-goer father commented on the convenience of the “Kid Zone” because the interactivity gives his son a chance to “refresh” in between looking at cars on the show floor. Another father commented on the attention span of children saying, “It’s great that the auto show has activities for children to enjoy in between looking at cars, because they don’t tend to have long attention spans. This kid-friendly environment makes it easy for families to bring young children.”
Plenty of people tote their kids at the show…and why not? It’s fun for the whole family!
