Frenzy, Fun and Fords at the Auto Show

Posted by: Rachel Anderson

Today, each intern was assigned to cover an event and write a press release and summary that will be posted on the Chicago Auto Show website. It was important for us to capture intriguing photos and get quotes from the event’s speakers in order to summarize the conference for the media. I had the pleasure of attending the Ford media conference and view the release of the 2010 Harley Davidson F-150 truck. Attendees of the conference could also hop into a mechanical contraption designed to simulate what it would be like to actually drive through rugged terrain in the monstrous truck. Melody Legge and I were assigned to work together to cover this event. We had the opportunity to talk to Ford executives about how their new car releases will help the economy by increasing sales within the car industry.

It was quite an interesting experience watching both traditional and social media flock to the Vice President of Ford and Kia Motors to get quotes on how they expect to see their business grow in the year 2009. Today’s events have been all of fun, interesting, and exhausting. Because of our hectic schedule today, Melody and I even ran to the Kia Motors America press conference in order to cover the entire event.

The media center is undoubtedly busier than it has been in the past few days and this is with good reason. Our doors flew open promptly at 7 a.m. this morning letting media individuals come in to use the computers, receive credentials, lock up their equipment, or grab a quick breakfast. Whatever they are doing – they are creating pure frenzy as they cover events, write press releases, blogs, and other stories about the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. All continues to be going well at McCormick Place and like always we will keep you “in the know” on what the Bradley interns are up to next!
