Ford Reveals Redesigned 2019 Transit Connect Wagon, Introduces Titanium Elite Appearance Package at 2018 Chicago Auto Show
Ford Motor Company, with a little help from Chicago native Jim Belushi, introduced its newly redesigned 2019 Transit Connect Wagon to media attendees at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show Media Preview on Thursday.
The wagon, available in both five and seven passenger configurations, features all-new gas and diesel engines and a plethora of driver-assist technologies, including the segment’s only Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection. The Transit connect Wagon can be easily converted from passenger to cargo duty, offering unmatched versatility perfect for Baby Boomers, Ford’s target audience.
“The Ford Transit Connect is the best-selling small van in America,” said Mark LaNeve, vice president of U.S. marketing, sales, and service for Ford. “What you may not know is that since the 2014 refresh, more than half of our Transit Connect Wagon customers have been over the age of 50. After decades of aiming our products toward young buyers, I’m proud to tell you we’re aiming squarely for a Baby Boomer target.”
The 2019 Transit Connect Wagon features an all-new powertrain lineup, including the 8-speed, 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel engine, slated to return an estimated fuel economy rating of 30 mpg highway. The interior delivers innovative technology at every turn, including available wireless charging, a 4G LTE modem with WiFi, and available SYNC 3 with Ford+Alexa personal assistant functionality.
Ford also debuted the all-new Titanium Elite Appearance Package. Available for the first time on the 2019 Edge lineup, it offers supreme style with full body color sides, a more premium rear skid plate and unique 20-inch wheels.
According to Ford, the demand for higher-trim series SUVs is rising, with Edge seeing an eight percent rise in high-trim series sales over the past four years.
The 2019 Ford Transit Connect Wagon goes on sale this fall, and the Titanium Elite Appearance Package will be available on the 2019 Edge.
