In honor of golf superstar Tiger Woods, Buick named its sexy open-air concept from 2001, "Bengal." Buick was a sponsor for Woods on the PGA circuit, and he also served as a spokesperson for the automotive brand. The Bengal featured a supercharged 3.4 liter V-6 engine teamed with the SC Hydra-Matic XT6, GM’s first six-speed automatic transmission. Another first for GM on the Bengal was the front-wheel-drive transmission housed in front of the engine, rather than behind it. GM called it “whee."
