Utility and crossovers make up the largest segment of cars purchased in the U.S., and Ford is capitalizing on the sales of vehicles like the Edge, Escape and Explorer. Currently, according to Ford, the blue-oval brand leads the utility vehicle category in sales consideration among Millennials, and with the latest technology features and modern design, Ford believes the 2015 Edge is sure to make the highly sought-after age group think twice before purchasing from a competitor.

The 2015 Edge is all new from the ground up and is now based on the Ford Fusion platform. Ford is touting its technology, premium features and design. According to Ford, people want technology to have a purpose. The latest Edge features include adaptive steering, front camera system and an enhanced active park assist that uses the car's 12 ultrasonic sensors to help guide drivers into a parking spot -- both perpendicular and parallel. A stop/start system will also be available that should help boost city fuel economy, and Ford's powertrain engineers worked hard to ensure these restarts are less obtrusive to customers.

Exterior lines are more athletic and streamlined and the interior boasts fluid lines with calming leather touches. Edge is almost 4 inches larger than the outgoing model and will be sold in a Sport and Titanium trim. Three engines will be available, with the most noteworthy being the 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost, which will be available for the Edge Sport only. The basic SE, SEL and Titanium trims will have the option of a 245-hp EcoBoost 2.0-liter I4 or a 265-hp 3.5-liter V6.

Though pricing has yet to be announced, the Edge will be available early next year. Its current base price starts at $28,995.
