2020 Subaru Legacy Debut Tops Social Media Trends

Posted by: Jennifer Morand

As the nation’s largest auto show, the Chicago Auto Show serves as the venue where automotive and technology trends are identified, not just for the Chicago area, but for the nation. The more than 1 million square-foot venue features approximately 1,000 of the industry’s latest cars, trucks and SUVs for consumers to peruse – and even test drive – throughout the show’s 10 consecutive days.
Chicago Auto Show organizers use Meltwater, a media intelligence company, to monitor and assess trends in real time to learn what gets fans excited and talking on social media. This year, the 20 vehicle debuts sparked excitement and conversation among fans. Specifically, Subaru Legacy’s hashtag #SubaruLegacy rose to the top with 919 individual tweets during the show’s Media Preview. The second most popular vehicle hashtag had nearly half of the Legacy’s, further showcasing the positive impact that vehicle had on both the media and public.
The 2020 Legacy, which is considered the most advanced Legacy in the model’s 30-year history, made its world premiere at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. The new sedan offers more tech, performance, safety and refinement than ever before. It also boasts enhanced styling including wide fenders and a higher trunk surface. On the inside, the vehicle is upgraded with high-quality materials and is completely redesigned for extra comfort, style and passenger space.
The new Legacy receives notable tech upgrades, and is now available with an all-new 11.6-inch STARLINK multimedia touchscreen. The large screen interface makes it easy for the driver to customize entertainment options, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
Optional on Limited and standard on both XT trims is the segment-exclusive DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, which uses a dedicated camera and facial recognition software to identify driver fatigue and distraction. Additional notable features include symmetrical all-wheel drive and driver assist technologies.
Once the 2020 Legacy arrives at dealerships, likely this fall, it will be available for test drives. Visit to locate a dealership near you.
