 Driving Directions to the Chicago Auto Show

On weekends and Presidents Day, please consider using the Millennium Park Garage. Parking is just $19 and the Chicago Auto Show provides FREE door-to-door shuttle service. More information here.

  • From the NORTH via LAKE SHORE DRIVE: Exit at 18th St. or 31st St. and follow signs to McCormick Place. ON THE WEEKENDS and PRESIDENTS DAY, use MILLENNIUM GARAGE and ride the free auto show shuttle.
  • From the NORTH via I-90/I-94: Exit at Ohio St. or Roosevelt Rd. to Lake Shore Drive. Exit at 18th St. or 31st St. and follow signs to McCormick Place. ON THE WEEKENDS and PRESIDENTS DAY, exit at Washington St. or Monroe St. east to the MILLENNIUM GARAGE and ride the free auto show shuttle.
  • From the WEST via I-290: Congress Pkwy. to Columbus south and follow signs to McCormick Place. ON THE WEEKENDS and PRESIDENTS DAY side, Congress Pkwy to Columbus north to MILLENNIUM GARAGE and ride the free auto show shuttle.
  • From the WEST via I-55: Exit I-90/I-94 east and go south to Cermak Rd. or 31st. St. Head east and follow the signs to McCormick Place.
  • From the SOUTH via I-90/I-94: Exit at 31st. St. or 22nd. St. east, follow the signs to McCormick Place
  • From the SOUTH via LAKE SHORE DRIVE: Exit at 31st St. or 18th. St. follow the signs to McCormick Place.
  • BIKE: McCormick place has direct access to the Lakefront Trail. Bike parking is available along the Lakefront Trail. For more information on Bike access and the Lakefront trail, please visit https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/cdot/provdrs/bike.html

 Parking at the Chicago Auto Show

McCormick Place offers on-site parking. There are three main McCormick Place lots. A, B & C. Lot A & C are $25. Lot B is $17. All McCormick Place lots are $11 after 6 p.m. during Chicago Auto Show dates only. Parking fees can be paid by cash or credit card; VISA, MasterCard and American Express are accepted. Parking lots are open throughout event hours. Overnight parking is not available, and there are no in-and-out privileges. Soldier Field South parking lot. Rates are $25 during the day and $11 after 6 p.m. Exit Lake Shore Drive at 18th Street. More information at http://www.soldierfieldparking.com/.  

SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS ONLY the Chicago Auto Show operates free shuttle bus service to and from the Millennium Park and Millennium Lakeside Garages. On these days only parking rates at Millennium Park are $19 per 12 hours with validation. Validation will be provided as you exit the shuttle. Parking fees can be paid by cash or credit card; VISA, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.

Parking lots are open throughout event hours. Overnight parking is available at posted rates. The automobile entrance for the Millennium Park Garage is on South Columbus Drive between Monroe Street (from the south, heading north) and Randolph Street (from the north, heading south).

Handicap Parking at McCormick Place: McCormick Place has accessible parking available in Lot A (located on Martin Luther King Drive), Lot C (located underground in Lakeside Center) and the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place parking garage. However, any given lot may be full upon your arrival. Therefore, it may be recommended to drop off your guest and then find parking. For the Chicago Auto Show, the best drop off location is at our South Building, Gate 4 located on Martin Luther King Drive.

 Public Transportation to the Chicago Auto Show

 CTA Green Line

Getting to the Chicago Auto Show by train is now even more convenient with the Cermak- McCormick Place Green Line station, which is approximately three blocks west of the venue. Customers traveling on the Red, Brown, Pink, Orange and Blue lines can make free transfers to the Green Line at the following locations:

  • Red Line: make a free transfer at Roosevelt and board an Ashland/63rd-bound or Cottage Grove-bound Green Line train to Cermak-McCormick Place. You can also make a free transfer (farecard required) from Red at State/Lake to Green to Cermak-McCormick Place.
  • Orange Line: make a free transfer at Roosevelt and board an Ashland/63rd-bound or Cottage Grove-bound Green Line train to Cermak-McCormick Place. You can also make a free transfer at Clark/Lake and Adams/Wabash to Green to Cermak-McCormick Place.
  • Blue Line: make a free transfer at Clark/Lake and board an Ashland/63rd-bound or Cottage Grove-bound Green Line train from the Loop Elevated platform to Cermak-McCormick Place.
  • Brown Line: make a free transfer at Clark/Lake or Adams/Wabash towards an Ashland/63rd-bound or Cottage Grove-bound Green Line train to Cermak-McCormick Place.
  • Pink Line: free transfers to an Ashland/63rd-bound or Cottage Grove-bound Green Line train can be made at the Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Washington/Wabash, and Adams/Wabash Loop Elevated stations. Outside of the Loop, you can transfer from Ashland or Clinton to Green Line train to Cermak-McCormick Place.

#3 King Drive

The #3 King Drive route provides direct access to McCormick Place and operates during all hours of the Chicago Auto Show. To provide improved frequency, additional buses will operate between Fairbanks/Ontario and McCormick Place from 5 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. on weekdays. On weekends, this additional service will be provided from 11 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. 

#21 Cermak

The #21 Cermak route provides direct access to McCormick Place and operates during all hours of the Chicago Auto Show.

 Special “Auto Show” Buses

Special Auto Show buses will operate between the Ogilvie Transportation Center/Union Station and McCormick Place. These buses will have either “To Auto Show McCormick Place” or “Metra Stations/Via Downtown” in their destination signs depending on the direction of travel. This bus charges regular CTA fares, The “Auto Show” Bus will run during the following dates/times:

  • Weekdays: 9:00 am to 10:20 pm every 15 - 20 minutes (last shuttle trip is at 8:20pm on Monday, February 17th)
  • Saturdays: 9:00 am to 10:20 pm every 10 – 20 minutes
  • Sundays: 9:00 am to 10:20 pm every 12 – 20 minutes

Board the “Auto Show” Bus in the following locations:

  • Ogilvie Transportation Center: on southbound Clinton at Madison
  • Union Station: on southbound Clinton at Quincy, or eastbound Jackson Boulevard and the Chicago River
  • Museum Campus: on southbound Columbus at 11th Street
  • McCormick Place: at Gate #26

 METRA

  • The Rock Island and Metra Electric lines will be running extra service on the weekend (Feb 8-9 & Feb 15-16) including shuttle service on the Electric district running non-stop from Blue Island to the auto show.
    • Regular scheduled Blue Island trains may have shifted departure times to avoid interference with the shuttles
    • On weekdays, certain Metra Electric trains will make additional flag stops at McCormick place
  • There will be a $5 ticket on the extra weekend MED shuttles
  • Metra will be offering free parking at Blue Island on the show’s weekends 
  • Personnel will be available at Blue Island to assist passenger who may be unfamiliar with transfers at from the Rock Island to the Electric
