Polestar, a Swedish automotive manufacturer, was originally founded in 1996 as Flash Engineering, a racing team competing in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. In 2005, the team was rebranded as Polestar Racing and later operated a production car tuning division called Polestar Performance AB. In 2015, Volvo Cars acquired Polestar and repositioned it as an electric performance brand2. Since 2017, Polestar has been an independent brand focused on producing high-performance electric vehicles, with significant financial backing from its parent companies, Volvo Cars and Geely Holding Group. Polestar shares began trading on the Nasdaq exchange in June 2022.
