The Miles Per Hour run is a one-of-a-kind indoor race developed by the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) in partnership with the Chicago Auto Show. First held in 2020, the event returns again for the 2026 Chicago Auto Show.
This unique one-hour run challenges participants to cover as much distance as possible in 60 minutes. While it is an officially recognized event, the one-hour run is rarely contested, making this race even more unique as it is run entirely indoors and through the halls of the Chicago Auto Show and McCormick Place.
Runners will loop a 2.4-mile course that winds through the massive Auto Show floor, past incredible vehicle displays, across the Grand Concourse bridge with views of the Chicago skyline, and through the Lakeside Center overlooking Lake Michigan. The loop will include a variety of long straightaways, unique zigzags, and even an incline as runners run the indoor bridge over Lake Shore Drive.
At Miles Per Hour, your finish line is defined by your effort. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or looking for a fun challenge, you’ll push your limits for one hour—then enjoy special early access to the Chicago Auto Show. Timing mats along the course track your total distance and determine your official Miles Per Hour result.
