Buick is a division of General Motors. Other GM brands include Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC. Buick is the oldest active American make and its vehicles are sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Israel and, most-recently, China. The brand originated as the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company in 1899, an independent internal combustion engine and motor-car manufacturer, and was later incorporated as the Buick Motor Company in 1903, by Scottish born David Dunbar. Buick was purchased by William Durant in 1904 and helped form General Motors. Today, Buick markets upscale and premium cars and crossovers. Its headquarters are in Detroit, Michigan.
