Interactivity

The Chicago Auto Show definitely doesn’t disappoint with the abundance of activity at McCormick Place each year. The exhilarating atmosphere boasts a family-friendly environment where anyone from a 90-year-old man to a toddler is guaranteed a marvelous experience. When auto show-goers were surveyed on suggestions for next year’s show, their answer was plain and simple: people like interactive. Many noted their fascination with interactive displays showcased yearly at the Chicago Auto Show.

With the goal to turn spectators into participators, the interactive displays at exhibits include anything from holding a wedding on Valentine’s Day to free gas card giveaways to even the making of fudge on the show floor. Guests also have the opportunity to watch Paul Brian broadcast live on WLS Radio and vote "Best of Show" at the CATA kiosk. Numerous TV specials are also produced from the show floor including NBC5, WGN TV and Telemundo. If you want to see the production of a live TV broadcast, get a glimpse of TV personalities in person, or if you just want to wave to your friends at home in the background, the first weekend of the show is your best bet.

A few other interactive displays include:

  • The Army’s push-up contest and rock climbing wall
  • Lexus and Ford driving/racing on-site simulators
  • Jeep’s off-road test track
  • Chicago Police Department’s crash test for a real-life example of an accident while driving under the influence
  • Automotive Youth Education Systems (AYES) presentation on how to add aftermarket products to make your car unique or, in simple terms, how to "pimp your ride"

Although the above are just some examples of how people really get involved in the Chicago Auto Show, there are also book signings, photo opportunities with cars and celebrities, chances to meet famous members of sports teams and even free massages and manicures.

That being said, we would like to hear your suggestions for a more "interactive" show. What would you like to see this year? Our eyes may not be the ones eyes reading this post; you never know if dealers are looking for new ideas for their displays...
