Volvo and Polestar Bring the Racetrack to the Roads

Posted by: Ashley Arendt

Volvo is bringing racetrack engine technology to the streets in your neighborhood.  Volvo’s partnership with Polestar has enabled the company to design an vehicle that allows the Volvo to bridge the gap between speed and safety.

The Volvo V70 Polestar started as an idea, “What would happen if we build a road car based on what we know of the racecar,” said Hans Baath, managing director of Polestar. Well, it would look a lot like this: Black Sapphire or Rebel Blue in color, new front and rear splitters that allows for more efficient airflow, and a brand new engine. This hybrid racecar/road car engine has 345 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.

The five-year journey to get to this point doesn’t end here. Volvo and Polestar are looking to better their engines and continue to strengthen their partnership through shared insights and experiences which are essential to the growth of both companies.
