2012 Chicago Auto Show: Chevy Camaro ZL1

Posted by: Karla Carr

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 made its world debut at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The most-powerful Camaro ever competes with the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which made its debut here this year. The ZL1 powertrain in the ZL1 makes 550 horsepower and 550 pounds-feet of torque. Sole transmission offering is a six-speed Tremec manual. Tour and sport selectable ride modes are available as well. The Camaro ZL1 is available in all the same colors as the current Camaro but with a black carbon-fiber hood cover, black interior, 20 inch wheels, and Goodyear Supercar F2 Tires.

In addition to previewing the new 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1, consumers at the auto show were allowed to take a Carbon Concept Timesplice Photo. They enter their information into an iPad and a Chevy representative takes the photo. Guests at the show are allowed to have fun with the photo and pose in front of the Camaro either standing or jumping while the photo is being taken. The Carbon Concept Timesplice Photo appeals to the social media auto show consumers because they are allowed to use the ipad technology to send the photo to their email or post to various social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter.
