2016 ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM DROPHEAD COUPE: Dynamic, graceful, and inspired by the classic J-class yachts of the 1930s, the Phantom Drophead Coupe continues the long tradition of two-door, four-seat Rolls-Royce convertibles. On display at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, the Phantom Drophead Coupe is listed at $548,700 for the open-air model from the British company. Under the long hood is a 6.8-liter V-12 engine that develops 453-horsepower and an amazing 531-lb. ft. of torque to the rear-wheels. Even though the Drophead Coupe has a curb weighs of 5,995-lbs., it can easily move from 0-to-60 mph in 5.6 seconds and reach a governed 150-mph top speed. The rear-hinged coach doors allow easy entrance/exit from the elegant cockpit with sisal carpets. While at the show, note the hand-tailored soft-top canvas roof that retracts at the touch of a button. A hidden refrigerator and set of monogrammed glasses is beneath the teak floor of the picnic trunk, and even when the roof is lowered, there's still ample room for a set of golf clubs or luggage. Protecting you from adverse weather conditions, the five-layer soft-top can open or close in just 25-seconds. And, as far as Rolls-Royce is concerned, "What could be more romantic than the sound of rain on a soft-top at night?" While at the show, ask the Rolls-Royce representative to tell you about the Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed Collection that honors historic water speed records.
