2015 TOYOTA AVALON: The bold design of the 2015 Toyota Avalon is sure to draw crowds at the 107th annual Chicago Auto Show, Feb. 14-22, 2015. Toyota's full-size sedan straddles the line between the mainstream and luxury markets, offering buyers the spacious interior and smooth ride of a premium sedan for a middle-market price. The Avalon is available with a choice of V6 engine or a gas-sipping hybrid powertrain. The 3.5-liter V6 makes 268 willing horsepower while the hybrid combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a pair of electric motors to produce 200 horsepower and deliver 40 mpg overall. A Drive Mode Select system is standard. It has Normal, Sport, and Eco modes. Eco dulls throttle response and lessens the energy drain of the air conditioning system. Sport mode increases throttle response and makes the steering feel heavier. Buyers also have a choice of five models: XLE, XLE Premium, XLE Touring, Limited, and XLE Touring Sport. The XLE Touring Sport is a new model that can be identified by its 18-inch wheels, Attitude Black paint, HID headlights, and LED daytime driving lights. The XLE Touring Sport's interior is upgraded as well, with aluminum scuff plate door sills, dark blue interior trim and stitching, and a Touring Edition badge on the floormats and splash screen. That seven-inch touchscreen houses Toyota's Entune infotainment system. Entune pairs with smartphones to provide access to several apps, including Pandora and iHeartRadio internet radio, Bing local search, OpenTable.com restaurant reservations, and MovieTickets.com. Entune also provides satellite services, such as real-time weather and traffic, stock quotes, sports scores and fuel prices, and it is the home for the navigation system when it is chosen.
