ACURA TLX PROTOTYPE: Designed and developed in Los Angeles and Ohio, the exciting new Acura TLX prototype is on exhibit during the 106th Chicago Auto Show, Feb.8-17, 2014. The TLX prototype is a sneak preview of the next generation of Honda’s luxury division. First thing you will notice about the TLX Prototype is a taut, aero-tuned form which is marked by precise lines that flow from a shortened rear overhang. As they move around the vehicle they culminate in the signature Acura Jewel Eye LED headlights. Yet, even with this very low and wide profile, Acura leveraged the packaging expertise targeting the largest interior volume of any car in the segment, providing great site lines, ample cargo capacity comfortable seating for five adults. The base engine for the idea-car is a direct-injected 2.4-liter VTEC engine that will produce more than 200 horsepower, mated to an all-new, Acura-designed and developed eight-speed dual clutch transmission with a torque converter. A second engine will be offered - a direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6 that comes linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Consumers will have their choice of standard front-wheel or optional SH-AWD (Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive) system. On top of the all-new powertrain technologies, this includes advanced connectivity via a capacitive touch panel, and the next gen AcuraLink telematics system, which is an an available Electronic Gear Selector with easy-to-use features. The TLX will feature an advanced suite of Acura safety and driver assist technologies.
