'Muscles' Are No Longer Just A Boy's Ambition

Posted by: Kendra Newlon

Walking up to the Dodge Challenger interactive performance course, the line is packed with men aged 18 and older. My co-intern and I look at each other feverishly, but brush it off and make our way to the testosterone-filled entrance to the track.

The first words spoken to us by others waiting to experience such an opportunity were: "you realize how fast these things go, right?!" and "are you really sure you can handle it?" Although we were even more nervous than we were seconds before, we were determined to prove them all wrong.

As we wove our way around the track, showcasing the Challengers's rear-wheel-drive architecture, the actual performance of the Charger absolutely blew my mind.

We finally got to the grand finale- the part EVERYONE waits for. The yellow and black warning at the end of the track was very intimidating. The 305 horsepower and 268 ft. lbs. of torque behind the Charger shoved us back in our seats and lit up the tires.

Luckily, the brakes stopped us before hitting the warning sign, and before we knew it we were safe and sound outside the track. I looked down the line before exiting and noticed more and more women in line to test the Charger this morning.

What a great way to kick off Women's Day at the Chicago Auto Show.
