There’s a Civic for Everyone!

Posted by: Holly Macaluso

If you’re in the market for an entry level sedan or coupe, there’s a Civic for you. If you’re looking for something with more options and eye-catching style, there’s a Civic for you. If you’re looking for a high-performance hatchback with a manual transmission, there’s a Civic for you. There is a Civic for everyone! Available as a sedan, coupe or hatchback with eight varying trim levels, the Honda Civic has one of the most diverse lineups on the market. As one of the longest selling name plates, the Civic first launched in 1972 with a single two-door model, it has become one of the most well-known models in the industry. Ten generations of the Civic have crossed dealer lots and the current Civic is by far the most aggressive version yet.

With a mild facelift for the 2019 sedan and coupe, the Civic remains a dominant player in the compact car category. Minor updates include a new piano black upper fascia, restyled lower fascia, bumper, and lower grille, chrome side accents, and updated halogen or LED headlights. Also new is the Sport trim level which sits between the base LX and mid-level EX. The Sport trim adds in 18-inch wheels, a center-mounted exhaust (inspired by the Civic Si) and it replaces chrome accents with trendy gloss black accents. Both the sedan and coupe are available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT. On the inside, the Civic lineup now comes with an updated seven-inch infotainment display which has brought back a volume knob.

Civics are also now safer than ever with standard Honda Sensing technology. Honda Sensing includes a variety of standard features such as adaptive cruise control with a low-speed follow which maintains a set following interval behind detected vehicles. Also standard is a collision mitigation braking system, lane keep assist and road departure mitigation. Starting at $19,490, the Civic is a great option for someone looking for an affordable, stylish and safe vehicle.

When walking the floor of the Chicago Auto Show, it’s hard to miss the Civics in the Honda exhibit. With five variations on display in eye-catching Aegean Blue, Rallye Red, Tonic Yellow Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl and a Polished Metal Metallic Type-R, the crowds are big around these affordable cars. The Civic is a great example of why sedans and coupes still have a place in the automobile landscape. With more than 325,000 Civics sold last year, one can assume this car isn’t going anywhere soon. If you’re wondering which one the crowds are fighting to get closest to, it’s the Civic Type-R. The Type-R is the enthusiasts’ choice with its in-line 4-cylinder turbocharged engine generating 306 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. With a six-speed manual transmission, this is the one to have some fun in.

Prices of the Civic range from $19,490 for an LX Sedan up to $35,700 for the Civic Type-R hatchback. No matter what your price, color, body style or performance preference, there’s a configuration that matches your needs. Build your Civic online at automobiles.honda.com or visit your local Chicagoland/Northwest Indiana Honda Dealer to find what’s right for you.
