New iPhone App Can Help Fix Your Parking Ticket

Posted by: Julie Piatek

I think we can all agree that no one enjoys getting a parking ticket and, if you park regularly in Chicago, it is likely you have received one over the past year or so. Some people choose to try and fight the ticket, but others don’t want to waste the time and effort and therefore they end up paying the ticket.

If you are someone who tends to get parking tickets it is your lucky day. Launching next week next week is an app for the iPhone called Fixed. Fixed will contest parking tickets for you by finding ways your ticket may be invalid. It will do this by gathering the paper work, and finding evidence to appeal your ticket.

You may be thinking, how does this work?   When someone receives a parking ticket, they take a picture of the ticket and enter the violation code in the app. Fixed will then respond with the percentage of those types of tickets that are usually overturned, along with reasons the ticket may be invalid. Then, if the driver thinks they have a case they can decide to have Fixed research their ticket, and they will be prompted to sign a digital letter.

If the app helps the driver get out of the ticket, then the driver must pay Fixed 25% of what the citation would have been.  If Fixed does not help the driver get out of the ticket, the driver does not owe Fixed anything.

Fixed is contracted with legal researchers who are pros in fighting traffic laws. The app is expected to be a major hit; it was tested on 1,000 people, and already has a waiting list of 25,000 people.

The app will only be available in San Francisco, which is known for people to rack up parking tickets, but Fixed hopes to soon be in other major cities.

What do you think? Would you download Fixed the next time you received a parking violation? Comment here or tweet us @ChiAutoShow
