A Peek into the Chiacgo Auto Show

Posted by: Jackie Beaudry

Everyday more and more Americans are being laid off due to the economic hardships our country is enduring. But as I toured the spacious floors of the McCormick Place and observed the tremendous amount of work and individuals it takes to make the Chicago Auto Show a reality, it must be recognized that there is more to this show than its fast and fancy cars. The 2009 Chicago Auto Show is giving individuals a reason to be employed. From the truck drivers that deliver the vehicles, to the lighting crew that creates the ambiance, to the set-builders and the set-designers that make the show look grand many people are required to make this show happen. Having never attended the Chicago Auto Show, I only had an idea of what to expect. Watching first-hand what goes into renovating a massive empty space into a car show extravaganza made me think of the amount of man-power or in my case women- power it takes to make this show the largest in North America. Therefore, I would like to extend a great job to all those involved! With only a day left to complete set-up the pressure is on but as our very own Mark Bilek remarked, “you never think this will be done on time but we always pull it off!” The countdown is on until the media preview days begin… t-minus 24 hours!
