Auto Show! As Governor of
the State of Illinois, I applaud
the Chicago Automobile Trade
Association and its partners for
showcasing the next generation of
innovative vehicles. Each year, this
auto show impresses hundreds of
thousands of attendees and proves
why it is an important event for
Chicago and the State of Illinois.
The Chicago Auto Show has a
rich history dating back to 1901. At
that time, the Chicago Auto Show
was the first opportunity for many
Illinoisans to see an automobile.
Now we buy cars, trucks, SUVs,
and hybrid vehicles built right here
in the Land of Lincoln. The hard
working men and women in the
Illinois automotive industry laboring
in cities like Chicago and Belvidere
are at the front lines of American
ingenuity and innovation.
In the years since its founding,
the Chicago Auto Show has become
the largest auto show in North
America, held more times than any
other exposition on the continent.
On behalf of the people of Illinois,
I offer you my best wishes for an
enjoyable visit to the 2017 Chicago
Auto Show.

of Chicago, I am pleased and proud to
welcome all of you to the 109th annual
Chicago Auto Show.
More than a centrury old, the Chicago
Auto Show was first held in 1901. Since
then, it has become one of the most
popular auto shows – and remains the
largest automobile exhibit of its kind – in
North America. That is because every
year thousands of people travel to our city
from all around to be a part of this special
event. It provides innovative entertainment,
involved programming, and informational
events for residents and tourists of all ages.
I have no doubt the Chicago Auto Show will
always be a Chicagoland – and national –
favorite.
I could not be more proud of the enduring
legacy and success of the Chicago Auto
Show. For generations, it has featured a
comprehensive and impressive display
of domestic and international passenger
cars, trucks, sports utility vehicles, and
environmental friendly automobiles that give
all patrons the chance to learn of trendsetting
and innovative additions to the auto industry.
More than that, the Auto Show continues
to offer the chance to come together with
family, friends, and neighbors to make
lasting memories.
I hope that those visiting our great city
take time to experience some of the speical
places in Chicago. Outside of McCormick
Place, you will find that our iconic skyline
and incredible lakefront invite you to explore
all that Chicago has to offer. I hope you
have a chance to sample our distinguished
restaurants, tour our great universities, visit
our world-class museums, and take in our
historic neighborhoods during your stay.

As Illinois Secretary of State, it is
my honor and privilege to welcome
you to the 2017 Chicago Auto Show
— a world-class celebration of classic
automobiles and cutting-edge cars.
Now in its 109th year, the Chicago
Auto Show is the nation’s largest
automotive convention, as well
as an enduring tradition among
exhibitors and attendees alike. The
show features more than 1 million
square feet of display space and
provides car enthusiasts with the
opportunity to explore the latest
developments and innovations in the
automotive industry. Nealy 1,000
cars are displayed, including racing,
traditional and antique vehicles. This
year, I encourage attendees to explore
the newest technological advances,
inventions and models that are
accessible to participants in hands-on
displays available for the first time.
This extravaganza features world
premieres of concept cars and the
latest models of vehicles.
I am proud that the Secretary
of State’s Public Service Booth is
available at the Auto Show this year.
On-site staff will assist patrons in
renewing their driver’s licenses/
ID cards, applying for vanity or
personalized license plates, processing
title applications and disability
parking placards, and purchasing
license plate renewal stickers. Staff
are available to answer questions
regarding the many programs and
services provided by the office.
