When Children Are Dealt Lemons, Volvo Makes Lemonade

Posted by: Jennifer Morand

Volvo Lemonade 350September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Volvo has launched a program to help raise awareness for a cause that’s close to its heart: Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).

Beginning this month, participating Volvo retailers will donate $10 to ALSF, a non-profit organization that was started in 2000 by a 4-year old named Alex Scott who opened a lemonade stand to raise money to help find cures for children battling cancer. Sadly, just four years after she started her lemonade stand, Alex died of neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system that occurs in infants and young children. ALSF has since raised more than $55 million to help support children with cancer.

With this new program, Volvo hopes to bring additional awareness to ALSF and strives to reach Alex’s mission to find the cure for childhood cancer. In addition to donating $10 to ALSF for each Volvo purchased, participating Volvo retailers will host individual lemonade stands across the country to raise awareness and solicit donations from local communities.
