Rivian

Rivian Automotive, founded in 2009 by R.J. Scaringe, initially focused on electric vehicle battery systems and powertrains before shifting its attention to producing electric trucks and SUVs. Rebranding from its original name, Mainstream Motors, to Rivian in 2011, the company aimed to combine luxury with sustainability. Rivian unveiled its first models, the R1T pickup and R1S SUV, in 2018. Supported by significant investments from backers like Amazon and Ford, Rivian has positioned itself as a key player in the electric vehicle industry. With its headquarters in Irvine, California, and its primary manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois, Rivian continues to innovate, focusing on adventure-oriented and environmentally-friendly vehicles.
