Jeep got its start building the U.S. Army all-purpose field vehicle during World War II and has soldered on through the decades under a number of different owners. Its current parent, Chrysler Group is wholly owned by Fiat. The first Willys MB Jeeps were produced in 1941, making it the oldest off-road vehicle brand, with the first civilian models produced in 1945. Today, Jeep's line consists of crossovers and SUVs that excel in off-road situations, highlighted by the Grand Cherokee.  In 2021 The Fiat-Chrysler group (owners of the Jeep brand) merged with The French PSA Group. The new company called Stellantis comprised the US brands Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati and Ram. All told, Stellantis is the eigth largest automaker and comprises 400,000 employees, a presence in more than 130 countries and has manufacturing facilities in 30 countries.
