2023 Ford F-150 Lightning: The Ford F-150 Lightning sees a range bump of 10 miles on its standard battery for 2023, going from 230 to 240 EPA-estimated miles. Higher-end trims still offer up to 320 miles of range. Lightning is an electric pickup truck, which is offered only as a crew cab with a 5.5-foot bed and four-wheel drive as standard. Competitors include the Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV Pickup, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra EV, though the last two aren’t on sale yet.
Four trims are offered: Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. All Lightning models offer dual-motor powertrains with four-wheel drive. Standard range models produce 452 horsepower while extended range models produce 580 horsepower. Standard range models offer up to 240 miles of driving range, while extended range models can go up to 320 miles on a single charge. Lightning Platinum can do 0-60 in just 4 seconds and tops out at 107 mph. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 8,600 pounds.
Lightning models can be equipped with Ford’s BlueCruise, which is similar to GM’s SuperCruise. It offers hands-free driving in certain conditions on more than 100,000 miles of divided highways across the U.S. and Canada. The system monitors the driver’s attention level and prompts drivers to pay attention or take over if necessary. Pricing ranges from $54,000 to $100,000.
