2023 Ford Escape: The Ford Escape gets a redesigned exterior for 2023, featuring a more athletic look, new headlights, hood and wheel designs. A sporty ST-Line trim is also new for 2023, and Sync4 is now standard across all models. The Escape seats 5 passengers an is only available as a 4-door wagon. Competitors include the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5 and Jeep Renegade. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are available.
Five trims are available: Base, Active, Platinum, PHEV, and ST-Line. Four engines are offered: A turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder that makes 180 horsepower, a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower, a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gas/electric hybrid powertrain that makes 210 horsepower, and plug-in variant of that engine with a larger battery that also produces 210 horsepower. The latter can travel up to 37 miles on battery power alone. Turbocharged engines pair to an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrids use a continuously variable transmission (ECVT). Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel-drive being optional. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds. Pricing ranges from $29,000 to $40,000.
