2021 Karma GS-6: The styling might be familiar, but just about everything else is new. Formerly called the Karma Revero GT, the new Karma GS-6 is built by Wanxiang Group and sold through select dealers here in the US. Like the Revero GT before it, the GS-6 is a 4-passenger, 4-door sedan with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. There is also an all-electric model called the GSe-6 and a performance model called the, you guessed it, Revero GT. Prices start at $85,000. Competitors include the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S.
Unlike most plug-in hybrids, the GS-6 really an electric car with a backup on-board generator. Power flows to the rear wheels through a pair of electric motors that, when combined, produce 536 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque. There’s a 28-kWh battery pack on board that can deliver about 60 miles of all-electric range. When battery charge falls below a set limit, a turbocharged 1.5.-liter 3-cylinder engine sourced from BMW kicks in and provides electricity and charges the battery. Karma says overall range is north of 300 miles.
Inside the GS-6 features a digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment screen that supports both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. It is also capable of over-the-air updates. Safety features include forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitor, adaptive headlights and a 360-degree camera system.
