2020 Land Rover Defender: The Land Rover Defender is all-new for 2020. The iconic British off-roader comes back to life after a multi-year hiatus worldwide, and an even longer absence in the United States. The Defender is a luxury crossover that seats 5 passengers and is offered as a 4-door and 2-door wagon. Competitors include the Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and Toyota 4Runner.
Only four-wheel drive is available. Five trims are available: S, SE, HSE, First Edition, X. Two engines are offered: A turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 300 horsepower, and a hybrid turbocharged 6-cylinder that produces 400 horsepower. Both engines pair to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 8,201 pounds.
Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $49,000 to $81,000.
