2020 Ford Explorer: The 2020 Ford Explorer is a 6- or 7-seat car that's only available as a 4-door wagon. Rear- and all-wheel-drive models are offered. Competitors include the Chevrolet Traverse, Toyota Highlander, Dodge Durango and Honda Pilot. For 2019, it is all-new. New hybrid and high-performance variants are also available.
Four different engines will be available at launch: A 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 300 horsepower, a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that produces 365 horsepower, a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that produces 400 horsepower (ST), and a 3.3-liter V6 aided by an electric motor that produces 318 horsepower (Hybrid). All models pair to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
There will be six trims available: Base, XLT, Limited, Hybrid, ST and Platinum. Features will include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated seats, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, premium audio, navigation, satellite radio, remote start, panoramic sunroof, etc. Safety features will include blind-spot monitoring, rearview camera, parking assist, auto-headlights, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, dynamic brake support and auto-high beams.
