2019 Volkswagen Golf: The 2019 Volkswagen Golf is a 5-seat car that's only available as a 4-door hatchback. Front- and all-wheel-drive models are offered. Competitors include the Mazda 3 hatchback, Subaru WRX and Honda Civic Sport. For 2019, it sees the addition of a new engine and high-tech safety features. Electric and high-performance variants are available, called the Golf E and Golf R.
There are three engines available: A 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 147 horsepower and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 228 in the GTI and 292 horsepower in the Golf R. There is a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission available. EPA-estimated fuel-economy ranges from 22 mpg city to 36 mpg highway.
There are two different Golf trims: S and SE. Available features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, leather seats, sunroof, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, cruise control, keyless entry, satellite radio, Bluetooth, navigation and premium audio. Safety features include rear-view camera, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, post-collision braking and lane-departure warning.
New features for 2019 include a new 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and front assist, blind spot monitor and rear traffic alert standard on all trims.
