2019 Toyota Highlander: The 2019 Toyota Highlander is a 7- or 8-seat car that's only available as a 4-door wagon. Front and all-wheel-drive models are offered. Competitors include the Dodge Durango, Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer. For 2019 it remains unchanged, with the exception of a new Nightshade Edition trim. A hybrid variant is also available.
The Highlander offers three engines: A 2.7-liter 4-cylinder that makes 185 horsepower, a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 295 horsepower, and a 3.5-liter V6 that pairs with an electric motor to make 306 total system horsepower. There are 6- and 8-speed automatic transmissions offered, while the hybrid pairs to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). EPA-estimated fuel economy ranges from 20 mpg city to 27 mpg highway.
There are eight different trims available: LE, LE Plus, XLE, SE, Limited, Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE and Hybrid Limited. Available features include panoramic moonroof, Bluetooth, USB, satellite radio, leather seats, heated and cooled front seats, heated second-row seats, navigation and infotainment system with app suite. Safety features include rearview camera, 360-degree camera, pre-collision with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert and radar cruise control.
