2019 Nissan Leaf: The 2019 Nissan Leaf is a 5-seat electric car that’s only available as a 4-door hatchback. Only front-wheel-drive models are offered. Competitors include the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Tesla Model 3. For 2019 the Leaf sees the addition of new tech and safety features. An all-new, extended range variant called the Leaf e+ is also new for 2019.
Only one drivetrain is offered: A 100-kilowatt electric motor powered by a 40-kilowatt Lithium-ion battery that produces 147 horsepower and is paired to a single-speed transmission. EPA-estimated maximum range is 150 miles. The e+ improves on that with a 160-kilowatt electric motor and 62-kilowatt battery, which together produce 214 horsepower and deliver a range of 226 miles.
There are three available trims: S, SV, and SL. Available features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated front seats, heated rear seats, premium audio, auxiliary jack, USB, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and navigation. Safety features include rearview camera, 360-degree camera, and a suite of semi-autonomous driving features.
New technologies for 2019 include ProPilot Assist and ePedal intelligent mobility features. The Leaf e+ delivers 76 more miles in driving range than the standard Leaf.
