2018 Subaru Outback: The 50th Anniversary Edition of the 2018 Subaru Outback debuted at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. The Outback is a crossover SUV that is more like a tall wagon, and the closest competitor for this five-seat crossover is the Audi Allroad or Volkswagen Golf Alltrack. For 2018, the Outback features a refreshed interior and exterior, and sees the addition of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and steering responsive LED headlights.
There are two engine choices: A 2.5-liter horizontally-opposed four-cylinder that makes 175 horsepower and a 3.6-liter horizontally-opposed six-cylinder that makes 256 horsepower. Both mate to a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT), and like almost all Subarus, the Outback is all-wheel drive. EPA-estimated fuel economy is listed at 25 mpg city/32 mpg highway for the 2.5-liter engine and 20/27 for the 3.6-liter engine.
The Outback is available in 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 2.5i Touring, 3.6R Limited, and 3.6R Touring. Available features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, fog lamps, satellite radio, navigation, USB, heated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, leather seats, moonroof, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
