2018 Mitsubishi Outlander: The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander is a compact SUV that competes with both similar vehicles, such as the Chevrolet Equinox, as well as with tall wagons like the Subaru Forester. For 2018, it sees the addition of a new seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth phone/audio connectivity, and a rearview camera as standard features. A plug-in hybrid variant is also new for 2018.
The Outlander offers three engines: A 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 166 horsepower, a 3.0-liter V6 that makes 224 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid aided by an electric motor that makes 197 horsepower. Available transmissions include a six-speed automatic or a continuously-variable automatic (CVT). Two-wheel or four-wheel drive is available, and EPA-estimated fuel-economy is listed at 25 mpg city/30 mpg highway for the 2.4-liter with two-wheel drive, 24/29 for the 2.4-liter with four-wheel drive and 20/27 for the four-wheel-drive-only V6.
Available trim levels include ES, SE, SEL, and GT. Available features include satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated steering wheel, sunroof, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats.
Available safety features include blind-spot warning, lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, rear-view camera, 360-degree camera, lane-departure warning, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and dual-front, front-side, driver's knee and side-curtain airbags.
