2018 Kia Optima: The 2018 Kia Optima is a five-seat mid-size sedan that competes with the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, and Toyota Camry. For 2018, it sees the addition of a seven-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and blind-spot monitoring as standard features. A Hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are also available.
The Optima offers three engines: A 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 185 horsepower, a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 178 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 245 horsepower. The 2.4-liter engine and the 2.0-liter engine mate to a six-speed automatic, while the 1.6-liter mates to a seven-speed automatic. The hybrid combines an electric motor and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for 192 total system horsepower, while the plug-in hybrid has a similar setup that makes 202 total system horsepower. The Optima is front-wheel drive and EPA-estimated fuel economy ranges from 22 mpg city to 46 mpg highway.
There are five different trims available: LS, S, EX, and SX. Available features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, satellite radio, USB, Bluetooth, navigation, premium audio, heated steering wheel, heated/cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and leather seats.
Available safety features include blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, front-collision warning, lane-departure warning, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and dual-front, front-side, driver-knee and side-curtain airbags.
