2018 Kia Niro: Unveiled at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, the Niro is a five-seat hybrid compact crossover. It competes with vehicles such as the Nissan Juke and Toyota RAV4. For 2018 it sees the addition of an all-new plug-in hybrid model.
The Niro is powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor to produce a total of 139 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid features the same drivetrain, in addition to an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. The Niro is front-wheel drive and has a six-speed automatic transmission. Its EPA-estimated fuel economy is 51 mpg city and 46 mpg highway, and 105 MPGe for the plug-in model. Kia promises an all-electric range of 26 miles for the Niro Plug-In Hybrid.
Three different trims are available: LX, and EX, and EX Premium. Available features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated front seats, cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, infotainment system, satellite radio, USB, Bluetooth, and UVO infotainment and multimedia system.
Available safety features include rearview camera, blind-spot detection, lane-departure warning, front and rear park assist, autonomous emergency braking, stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, and dual-front, front-side, driver-knee and side-curtain airbags.
