2017 Volkswagen Passat: The 2017 Volkswagen Passat is the German automaker's entrant in the competitive mid-size field, and it competes with vehicles such as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. For 2017, the Passat adds more standard features.

There are two engines to choose from: A 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 170 horsepower and a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 280 horsepower. The four-cylinder pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the V6 mates to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Passat is front-wheel drive, and EPA-estimated fuel-economy is listed at 23 mpg city and 34 mpg highway with the four-cylinder and 20/28 with the V6.

Available features include heated front seats, heated rear seats, fog lamps, sunroof, leather seats, hands-free trunk release, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, satellite radio, Bluetooth, USB, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and premium audio.

Significant available safety features include rear-view camera, forward-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, park distance control, park assist, and dual-front, front-side and side-curtain airbags.

The 2017 Volkswagen Passat has a base price of $22,440, not including dealer or destination fees.
