The Optima offers three engines: A 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 185 horsepower, a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 178 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 245 horsepower. The 2.4-liter engine and the 2.0-liter engine mate to six-speed automatics, while the 1.6-liter mates to a seven-speed automatic. The Optima is front-wheel drive and EPA-estimated fuel economy ranges from 22 mpg city to 46 mpg highway. The hybrid combines an electric motor and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for 192 total system horsepower while the plug-in hybrid has a similar setup that makes 202 total system horsepower.
