The wrapper is off

Posted by: Aurora Felty

Well folks, the wrapper is off!! The first day of the media preview is like unwrapping a new candy bar. Journalists, bloggers, reporters and all types of media professionals descended on McCormick Place at 7:00 AM to see what was underneath the shiny wrapper. The chocolatey exterior features American family favorites such as Ford, Toyota, Honda, Dodge and Chevy (to name a few). As you walk into the deep nougat center, you will find the luxury cars: Lexus, Bentley, Jaguar, Merecedes-Benz and more! In the end though, it doesn't really matter which car you look at, they are all immaculate.

Workers spent hours yesterday waxing and polishing the cars to get them ready for their public debut. Not only were the cars getting spiffed up...you could finally see the flooring. It was nice to feel the plush carpet underneath my feet instead of the sound of crinkling plastic. Throughout the day manufacturers unveiled their guilty pleasures. For example, General Motors revealed car characters for this summer's Revenge of the Fallen (the sequel to Transformers). In fact, Transformer's own Bumblebee is here at McCormick Place. Yesterday I was lucky enough to meet the sculptor who designed and built Bumblebee and Bumblebee's driver, Dave.

Everybody has something shiny and new to share with Auto Show goers, so be sure to come and check it out!
