Tanks for the memories

Posted by: Jennifer Ferm

Sure, we all know Paul Brian as CATA Director of Communications and the host of Drive Chicago on WLS AM radio, but where was he prior to these current gigs? Growing up in Chicago, Paul has attended the Chicago Auto Show every year for about 50 years, although he often likes to deny it’s been that long. While in the Army in 1974, Paul was stationed at Fort Sheridan working in public relations and recruiting. Given his auto show background and Army affiliation, Paul suggested placing an Army tank on the show floor to draw more attention to the show. People’s reaction to the tank? They absolutely loved it.

The military tank is still represented today at the Chicago Auto Show and is noted a favorite attraction by many. In light of Veterans Day, Paul has exchanged e-mails with General Benjamin (Paul is still “weirded out” to call him “Ben”) Freakley of the U.S. Army about the goodies that are in store for the upcoming show. Stay tuned (no pun intended) for additional news on this enticing Chicago Auto Show exhibit. From all of us at the CATA, many thanks to those who serve and honor our country.
