Shooting straight on the Chevy Volt

Posted by: Mark Bilek

If you're like me, you've read dozens of Chevrolet Volt reviews over the past four months. Some good, some bad. One thing I've noticed is that all seem to have an agenda, and that bias creeps into the review to diminish its objectivity. While articles of this type make for interesting reading, they do little to help consumers decide if the Volt is a good fit for their needs.

Despite conservative styling, Volt is clearly polarizing. Its one-of-a-kind drivetrain could forever change the automotive landscape and help reduce our oil addition (foreign or domestic). But, much like the Mazda MX-5 Miata or Chevrolet Suburban are niche players, the Volt is a unique vehicle that makes great sense for some and is of little value to others.

Late last month, I had the opportunity to spend a week behind the wheel of the Volt (courtesy of Chevrolet). You can read my ramblings over at DriveChicago by clicking here. I tried to be as objective as possible and point out a few flaws as well as some strikingly refreshing good points. What did I think? You'll have to click over to find out. One thing is for sure, in the right hands, Volt is the fuel-economy champion.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment or two here on this blog and let me know what you think.
