Powering Chicago Returns to the 2023 Chicago Auto Show As Premier Sponsor

Powering Chicago, the labor-management partnership between International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 and the Electrical Contractors' Association of Chicago and Cook County, returns as premier sponsor of the 2023 Chicago Auto Show and the newly-expanded Chicago Drives Electric indoor EV test track.

“As the industry continues to shift toward electric vehicles, Powering Chicago is excited to return as sponsor of the Chicago Auto Show and the bigger and better EV Test Drive Track,” said Powering Chicago Executive Director Elbert Walters III. “We look forward to welcoming attendees to the Powering Chicago EV Learning Center where industry experts will answer all their questions about charging EVs and they can learn about the unrivaled qualifications of union electricians and licensed electrical contractors who safely and reliably install Chicagoland’s EV infrastructure.”

This year, Powering Chicago invites attendees to the all-new Powering Chicago EV Learning Center, a one-stop shop where they can learn about everything involved in switching from gas-powered to electric vehicles (EVs). Industry experts from energy and government sectors, EV equipment manufacturers, Powering Chicago and more will be onsite to educate consumers on critical topics such as infrastructure installation and the different types of EV chargers available, rebates, energy needs for homes and businesses and more.

The Powering Chicago EV Learning Center will be adjacent to the Chicago Drives Electric test track. Throughout the show, the learning center will host consumer workshops and stations where attendees can meet with experts. The area will also feature Powering Chicago’s mobile field trip truck, a 73’ semi-truck and trailer outfitted with current and emerging electrical technology, including an EV charger.

“Powering Chicago has long been at the forefront of the shift toward EVs which makes them a natural partner with the Chicago Auto Show, specifically engaged in the Chicago Drives Electric EV hub,” said Jim OBrill, Chicago Auto Show marketing and sponsorships director. “We are proud to once again partner with Powering Chicago to bring the latest EV education to our attendees and showcase the integral part local electricians have in the EV revolution.”

The 2023 show runs Feb. 11-20 at McCormick Place and open to the public daily at 10 a.m. Adult ticket prices are $15; seniors ages 62 and older are $10; children ages 4-12 are $10; kids 3 and younger are free. Learn more about the 2023 show and purchase tickets at ChicagoAutoShow.com
