FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chicago Automobile Trade Association Elects Two New Members and Re-Elects Two Existing Members to its Board of Directors
Abinion and Haggerty join incumbents Phelan and Kelly on the CATA board.
Phelan elected CATA chairman.

CHICAGO (July 5, 2022) - Emir Abinion (Fox Valley Buick GMC, St. Charles; Fox Valley Volkswagen, St. Charles); and Jerry Haggerty (Jerry Haggerty Chevrolet, Glen Ellyn; Haggerty Ford, West Chicago; Haggerty Buick GMC, Villa Park) have been elected to the Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) board of directors. Incumbents JC Phelan (Jack Phelan Chevrolet, Lyons; Jack Phelan Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram, Countryside), and Ryan Kelly (Kelly Nissan, Oak Lawn) return for third- and second-year terms, respectively.

The CATA also elected a new executive board. JC Phelan is the 2022-23 CATA Chairman. Kelly Webb Roberts (Genesis of Highland [Indiana]; Webb Chevrolet, Oak Lawn; Webb Chevrolet of Plainfield; Webb Hyundai, Highland [Indiana]; and Webb Hyundai-Mitsubishi, Merrillville [Indiana]) is vice chairwoman. Jason Roberts (Advantage Acura of Naperville; Advantage Chevrolet of Bolingbrook; Advantage Chevrolet of Bridgeview; Advantage Chevrolet of Hodgkins; Advantage Toyota of River Oaks) is treasurer. Ryan Kelly (Kelly Nissan, Oak Lawn) is newly appointed to the executive committee as secretary. Former CATA Chairman Kevin Keefe (Brilliance Honda, Crystal Lake; Brilliance Subaru, Elgin) becomes 2023 Chicago Auto Show chairman.

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve as chairman of the board for the Chicago Automobile Trade Association,” said Phelan. “With scarce new-car inventory and the industry’s transition to battery-powered electric vehicles, these are turbulent times. It’s important that dealers come together with a singular voice and continue to serve the communities and customers they support.”

Election results were announced June 14 at the association’s annual meeting and golf outing at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont. Directors can serve up to three terms. Voting was open to all CATA dealer members whose association membership is in good standing.

“I can confidently speak on behalf of our association and its members when I say we’re fortunate to have Emir and Jerry join the already dynamic and strong CATA board,” said Jennifer Morand, co-president of the CATA. “Both of these individuals have the expertise and perspective that will lead our organization into the future.”

“Additionally, I congratulate JC and Ryan on their reelection to the CATA board,” said Morand. “Especially keeping in mind, the last couple turbulent years, these two men have not only dealt with the hand they were given, they’ve rose to the challenges and persevered. We’re thrilled they will continue to serve our board as they each provide immense value to the association and the local dealer community.”

In addition to the four directors elected this month and the executive committee, the CATA board includes John Crane, Dan Heller, Fred Marks, Dan Marquardt, Steve Phillipos and Richard Wickstrom.
