FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Midwest Automotive Media Association Announces
Subaru Ascent as Family Vehicle of the Year and Volvo XC40 as Luxury Family Vehicle of the Year

CHICAGO (Feb. 7, 2019) – The Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) announced the 2019 Subaru Ascent as the ninth annual Family Vehicle of the Year and the 2019 Volvo XC40 as the inaugural winner of the Luxury Family Vehicle of the Year award today during the Chicago Auto Show’s Media Preview.

MAMA, a nonprofit group of automotive journalists and public relations professionals, developed these two awards to assist car-shopping families in making a wise and knowledgeable decision when they’re ready to purchase a new vehicle. Both vehicles will be on display at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, Feb. 9-18. Vehicle qualifications for the awards include: must be a four-door automobile, be in working attendance at one of MAMA’s two annual rallies (spring and/or fall), and be a new or updated vehicle since May of 2018 at the 2018 Spring Rally.

“As the consumer auto show, the Chicago Auto Show serves as the perfect venue to make the MAMA Family Vehicle and Luxury Family of the Year Award announcement,” said Ray Scarpelli, Chicago Auto Show chairman. “The MAMA breakfast and award announcement was a great kick off to the 2019 Chicago Auto Show.”
