2019 VOLKSWAGEN ARTEON MAKES NORTH AMERICAN DEBUT DURING CHICAGO AUTO SHOW MEDIA PREVIEW

CHICAGO (Feb. 9, 2018) – The U.S. edition of the much-anticipated Volkswagen Arteon was unveiled Thursday during the 2018 Chicago Auto Show Media Preview. Hinrich Woebcken, CEO of the North America Region, Volkswagen and president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., spoke about the brand’s sales growth and endeavor to grow and expand within the American market.

“The start of our comeback is the result of two significant developments,” said Woebcken to news conference attendees. “Major structural changes in the business and how we operate here in the United States, and an ongoing product initiative where we are planning to roll out at least two major new products every year going forward.”

That momentum was evident with the reveal of the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon, which features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 268 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard on the vehicle will be an eight-speed, tiptronic automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive.

On the interior, drivers will find an upscale design with modern conveniences such as keyless access, push-button start, 8-inch touchscreen entertainment system, and available premium auto system and panoramic roof. The fastback’s exterior boasts Arteon’s unmistakable wide stance, sloping rear roofline, and standard 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels add to the premium feel.

Pricing for the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon will be available closer to mid-year, when it’s expected to hit dealership showrooms.
