Last-minute Halloween ideas for the car-crazy!

Dressing up as a racecar driver for Halloween? Well how about a racecar to go with it? On display during the 1909 Chicago Auto Show were two recent winning racing cars. On the left is the 1907 Thomas Flyer that won the 1908 New York to Paris race. Next to Thomas sits the two-seat Locomobile, which won the Vanderbilt Cup race in 1908.
How about a space cadet? This car in the image below is 1955 Lincoln Futura which would make a great accessory to your costume. Making its world premier during the 1955 Chicago Auto Show, the Lincoln Futura dream car mesmerized crowds with a space age electronically operated plexiglass canopy and swoopy fins. The experimental car was the basis for the original Batmobile on the 1966-68 Batman TV series. A Batman costume would also match this car perfectly!
Looking for a spooky-looking location to host your Halloween party? Pictured in 1903, the Coliseum was home to the Chicago Auto Show from 1901 to 1935. Located on Wabash Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets, the Coliseum featured a castle-like entranceway and a "whopping" 58,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space. (Compare that to the current show, which utilizes more than 1 million sq. ft. at McCormick Place.)
Back in 1973 it was popular to have models sit on top of cars and pose as "hood ornaments". To step away from the cliché, being a hood ornament is easy and creative.
