start from thebeginning

First staged in 1901, the Chicago Auto Show is the largest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. This year marks the 117th edition of the Chicago Auto Show.

Just hours before the 2010 Chicago Auto Show opened to the public, the Hyundai Blue-WiLL hybrid concept was plugged in and ready to demonstrate the latest in automotive technology. Classified as a compact four-door, four-seat sedan, it was a test bed of new ideas including panoramic glass roof with solar panels for recharging batteries, a thermal generator which converted hot exhaust gases into electricity, drive-by-wire steering, lithium polymer batteries and touch screen controls. Blue-WiLL promised an EV driving range up to 40 miles on a charge and an economy rating up to 100 mpg. Helping to achieve those numbers was a direct injection 1.6 liter 152-hp four, a CVT and a 100kw electric motor. The futuristic exterior styling was matched by a flowing interior with adjustable Transparent Organic Light Emitting Diode displays mounted on the steering column. An additional side-attraction within the Hyundai exhibit was a kids' soccer area.
