Chicago Auto Show Announces Winner of Collegiate Video Contest

CHICAGO (Feb. 20, 2018) - The Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA), producer of the Chicago Auto Show, partnered with Loyola University Chicago to host a collegiate video contest. Fifteen students from Loyola's School of Communication attended the Chicago Auto Show's Media Preview to capture footage of press conferences and interview automotive executives. They also had access to the first few days of the public show to create content for their videos. Once the students produced and completed the videos, show organizers uploaded them to the Chicago Auto Show's official Facebook page for public voting. Based on the number of public votes, the winning video was "She's at the Show" by Analise Ockenfels.

Ockenfels opened her video with stating "Auto shows are often considered to be a man's event, but today it's all about the women. With more women attending and showing interest in the automotive industry, the Chicago Auto Show is helping to pave the way for women." She then features video from the Chicago Auto Show's What Drives Her event and luncheon that highlighted key women within the auto industry and celebrated the growing role of females in the traditionally male-dominated space.

"My motivation behind creating 'She's at the Show' is that people don't tend to see how much women actually participate in the automotive industry, and I wanted to put a spotlight on these women just like the Chicago Auto Show does," said Ockenfels on her winning video.

Chicago Auto Show attendees were able to view Ockenfels' winning video on a 21-ft. social media wall in the show's centrally-located "BuzzHub," a public area dedicated to social media engagements. Show organizers also shared the winning video on its official social media channels. Overall, the campaign engaged 839 people through the online voting application.

Loyola University's School of Communication Professor John Goheen commented, "One of the unique things students get to do when your university is in a great city like Chicago is participate in an event such as the Chicago Auto Show. You wouldn't get this experience anywhere else. It's an amazing opportunity that will stay with them forever."
